Sjef Janssen senior passed away (95)

Sjef Janssen senior, also known as Sjefke Janssen, passed away yesterday evening at the age of 95. Sjefke Janssen was born in Elsloo (Holland) 1919 at the 28th of October. He was a professional cyclist from 1946 till 1954. It’s a great lost for Anky, Sjef and the kids, they will really miss him.
Sjefke Janssen was a successful cyclist and has won a lot of races. He was the only Dutch cyclist who finished the Tour de France in 1947. He became Dutch Champion twice, the first time in 1947 and the second time in 1949.
At the World Championships in 1947 Sjefke Janssen finished as third at the circuit of Reims. Also was he well known as a manager from successful international amateur and professional racing teams.
The funeral will be at the end of next week in Elsloo. May he rest in peace.
