Interview with Varvara Sorokina

Published on 20 October 2012

Recently we have welcomed one of the talented dressage riders of the VIAN Group at the Anky Education Center: Varvara Sorokina from the Ukrain.

"I'm 22, my first visit at riding school was at 2003. Except dressage I love cars, art and orange juice.
I brought here two horses. The first (and main) it's Cortes. He's 9, Holstein. We have not yet competed, now we are getting ready to ride with him the Prix St. George. He had a diverse life, he even managed to be in a show jumping. But by a happy coincidence of circumstances we are now here. I work with him half of year. He is very studious, I hope we will succeed.
The second is a Hazarhan, at home Mini-Ladusya. He is 5, Trakenen, stallion with the big beautiful eyes. With him, we also weren't at competitions. I work with him less one year. In order to realize himself in the sport he needed a little time. Sometimes he is lazy and naughty, but he is smart. In a soul he's still a baby.
And also with me come my dog– Junie (Miniature Schnauzer)
I work in "VIAN Group" one and half year. In Ukraine, it is the only organization that is in step with the times, gives athletes the opportunity to work at a higher level.
I came to Anky 8 September and will be here until the beginning of December. Despite such a short time, I feel like I'm already at home. This is a very beautiful place, and everything is created for comfortable work. Here an amazing atmosphere. I'm glad I came to Anky now, and not before, otherwise I wouldn’t have coped with the task. It was necessary to change your riding style, pass from the Ukrainian system to the Dutch, to forget old habits. During this time, Tommie Visser and Yessin Rahmouni very helped in this.
Like most riders, I want to go to the Olympic Games. Is it real or not - time will tell. For now my goal - to thoroughly examine the Dutch system of dressage and get the best results with my horses."
