The first part of the Grand Prix of the FEI European Championships in Aachen is started yesterday. Jorinde Verwimp and Fanny Verliefden, both students of Anky, entered the fantastisc arena of Aachen and showed their best.

Jorinde Verwimp has ridden a few European Championships already, but this is her first European Championships at the seniors. This year Jorinde and her horse Tiamo, allias Timmie (by Lester),  made their debut at international Grand Prix level. At CHIO Rotterdam she competed for the first time in the Belgium team and with success. Yesterday she was the first on the roll for the Belgium team at the Europeans.

The combination rode a test to be proud of. Without big mistakes, the transitions passage-piaffe-passage could be a bit better, Jorinde showed Timmie like a professional in the huge arena of Aachen. The result was fantastic, a score of 71.09%! The FEItv commentators were praiseful about Jorinde and Tiamo: 'This is such a cool kid' - 'that is real quality' - 'the best we've seen this morning'.

Sjef Janssen about Jorinde her test: 'She rode an excellent test without mistakes. Off course there're things that could go better, but she did a really good job.' Jorinde: 'I wasn't nervous at all and didn't mind to start in the beginning of the competition. I didn't know the scores of the previous riders, so I did just what I had to do. Tiamo felt super, he wasn't impressed of the big arena, he was really relaxt. I'm very happy!'

A few weeks ago, Fanny Verliefden had to cancel the Belgium Championships, but now the combination was fit to compete. Yesterday she and her horse Annarico (by Lord Loxely) started really good in the Grand Prix. Unfortunately she made some mistakes during the Grand Prix, so the score got stuck at 69.56%. But the pair offers some good prospects for the future!
